Itinerary
Day 1

GUWAHATI- SHILLONG

  • Touchdown at Guwahati Airport, meet your fellow Meghalayan Backpackers and get set for a scenic ride through rugged mountains.
  • We then drive to Shillong.
  • Before rolling into Shillong, we take a pit stop at Umiam Lake.
  • Reach Shillong and you are free to explroe
    the Police Bazaar in the evening. O/N Shillong.
Day 2

WATERFALLS AND DAWKI CAMPING

  • Rise and Shine! After a delicious breakfast in Shillong, we leave for Dawki while we visit two of the most mesmerizing waterfalls.
  • First- Phe Phe Falls. After crossing river in a kayak and a short 30 minutes hike that introduces us to vast array of exquisite ladscapes, lakes and flora.
  • Krang Suri- A sight to behold! It takes about a 20 minute walk to this falls. We leave for Dawki right after.
  • Check in your tents and settle for some stories, music, and a sky full of stars as we camp by the Umngot River.
Day 3

ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES- MAWKYRNOT- CHERAPUNJEE (B, D)

  • Waking up to the most beautiful view of this river, surely a treat to your eyes! After breakfast,it's time for some fun adventure activities-Kayaking, Cliff Jumping, in Asia's Cleanest River(Umngot River)
  • After having a good adrenaline rush, we leave for Cherrapunjee, but first, we'll have a stop at Longest Living Root Bridge - Mawkyrnot. Descend the steps, explore the longest living root bridge and we leave.
  • Reach Cherrapunjee, freshen up, have dinner &
    spend quality time with the gang.
Day 4

DOUBLE DECKER LIVING ROOT BRIDGE & BLUE POOL (B, D)

  • You can't do Meghalaya without the living root bridges and today we are heading for the same! No lies, it's a tiresome 2 hours trek each way.
  • But trust us, a dip in the fresh water blue pool along with the view of mighty Double Decker Living Root Bridge will make it all worthwhile.
  • If time & weather permits, we'll be hiking ahead to the beautiful Blue Pool & Rainbow Falls. Also get to watch a rainbow if you're lucky enough :p
  • Hiking back before the sun-sets in, we'll end the
    day with much deserved delicious dinner
Day 5

MAWSMAI CAVES, NOHAKALIKAI FALLS DRIVE TO MAWLYNGBNA (B, D)

  • Rise and Shine! After breakfast, we head towards the Mawsmai Caves, try to turn yourself into jelly as we enter the caves and move through narrow twists and turns.
    Exiting from another end of the cave with a sense of accomplishment.
  • Later, we'll go for the most surreal, India's tallest plunge waterfall- Nohakalikai Falls
  • After that, we’ll leave for a guided tour of the Mawphlang Sacred Forest and then we drive to Mawlyngbna for our night’s stay.
Day 6

WATER ACTIVITIES, DRIVE TO SHILLONG (B)

  • Today gear up for some real dopamine
  • River Canyoning: The main highlight, involving trekking along a river, jumping off cliffs, and rappelling.
  • Other activities- Kayaking, Hike to the Split Rock, etc. can be done on additional cost.
  • Later, drive towards Shillong and explore the Police Bazaar for dinner and shopping.
Day 7

BID FAREWELL- TRANSFER TO AIRPORT

  • We check-out from our hotel in Shillong and leave for Guwahati Airport,
    with your bagpacks full of memories, souvenirs and pictures of a lifetime!
  • We will reach Guwahati around 2:00 PM.

  • CAMERA AND VEHICLE - Camera and Vehicle charges where
    company's vehicle is not available are not included in the
    tour cost.

Flight Booking Details

  • On Day 1, participants must meet at Guwahati Airport by 11 AM
  • On Day 7 (return), you can book flights anytime post 4:00 PM

Notes

  • Standard check-in for hotels: 1 PM (noon); check-out by 11:00 AM
  • This is an active backpacking trip with trekking involved
  • Accommodations are simple and comfortable, with clean washrooms and home-style meals
  • Participants should be prepared for delayed lunch halts depending on road, weather, and travel conditions
  • Avoid carrying suitcases or heavy luggage — a backpack is more convenient. Limit baggage to 1 main luggage bag and 1 small daypack
  • Bhatakna won't be responsible if sightseeing/activities are cancelled due to natural calamities or man-made incidents
  • The schedule can be changed on the spot by the manager according to circumstances and convenience
  • Costs arising from events beyond control (strikes, bandh, riots, train/flight cancellation, mechanical breakdown, natural calamities like heavy rainfall, snowfall, landslides, earthquake) will be borne directly by participants
  • Guests are responsible for their own luggage/baggage throughout the trip
  • If the trip is cancelled due to any event or lockdown, a nominal cancellation fee of 10% will be charged, and participants will receive a credit note for the remaining amount, usable anytime in the near future

  • How will you contact me once I register?

We will be mailing you the details a day or two before the event.

  • Can I come alone?

Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.

  • Is it safe for a female solo traveller?

It is completely safe for a female solo traveller as our representatives will be there with you all the time. Moreover, most of our events have 60% female participation.

  • What if I have a medical emergency?

We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible

  • What kind of accommodation is provided during the Meghalaya trip?

During your Meghalaya trip you will be staying in comfortable hotels and riverside camps (in Shnongpdeng). These stays will be provided on sharing basis, offering clean rooms, basic amenities, and a chance to experience local hospitality.

Cancellation Policy:
  • Before 7 days of the trip: If cancelled before making full payment, only the non-refundable amount is retained
  • Between 7–5 days before the trip: If cancelled after paying in full, 50% of the balance amount (excluding non-refundable deposit) will be refunded
  • Within 5 days of the trip: No refund will be provided

No Show / Last-Minute Cancellations: If the participant fails to show up or cancels within 48 hours of departure, no refund will be possible.

Transfer of Booking: Participants may transfer their booking to another person at no extra cost, provided this is done at least 5 days before the trip.

Trip Cancellation by Us: If the trip is cancelled by Bhatakna due to weather conditions, government restrictions, or operational reasons, the participant will be offered a full refund (except non-refundable costs already incurred) OR credit for a future trip, usable within a specific period.
