About Gokarna Backpacking Trip & History
Gokarna is known for its beautiful beaches and clear waters, and in Sanskrit, Gokarna means cow’s ear. According to legend, when the demon king of Lanka, Ravana, sought to pull the Atmaling, which had been given to him by Lord Shiva, it burst out of the ground in the shape of a cow’s ear, thus giving the place its name. As it turns out, Gokarna is one of the best places in India to witness the stunning bioluminescent phytoplankton.
Gokarna Trip is a choice among travelers who desire a calm vacation, and it is the better laid-back and slightly commercialized performance of Goa. Besides the famous Om beach, it has Kudle beach and the more secluded Half Moon and Paradise beach. The total trek distance of the beach trek to Gokarna is around 10 KM. The trek will start from Half Moon beach, from where you will be needed to give through a hill to reach Om Beach finally. Breakfast & Dinner (Unlimited meals)
- On reaching Gokarna check in the hotel and freshen up quickly for a day exploring the beaches of Gokarna. (Early check totally depends on the rooms availability).
- Enjoy the local south Indian breakfast.
- We take a boat ride to Paradise beach. A 15 min boat ride would be fun. On reaching Paradise beach rest under the shacks or take a dip in the water. You can even try kayaking. You can finish off your lunch at the paradise beach.
- Later in the afternoon we start our trek back to Om beach. It’s an hour trek covering Halfmoon beach.
- We move to the Kudle beach for a perfect sunset.
- Reach our hotel back, freshen up and rest for awhile.
- We meet again for dinner and a small party with a bonfire.
- Travelers can go off to sleep or continue the party.

- Today we leave for our first location of the day – Yana caves, one of the finest creations of nature. Later on we explore the Vibhuti waterfall. Take a dip & if you know swimming you can even try cliff jumping.
- Head back to the hotel and enjoy the night by the beach.

- We start our journey to Honnavar backwater. A special boat ride for an hour in the mangroves. (please note: the ticket price is excluded so taking a boat ride is optional).
- We head on to visit the Murudeshwar temple. One of the tallest statue of lord shiva.
- Gather for the last lunch of the group and tour.
- We board our trains back to our respective city.
